3 weeks

15Dec07

It’s wierd… I walked out of my polygraph with the news that I had passed and that it was the last thing on the list that could have disqualified me from the academy… but it still was’nt real. I couldn’t figure out why. I mean here I am finally cleared to do somthing I’ve been waiting for for a long time… and It doesnt feel real…then the call came, actually a voicemail…

“Mr Carroll, this is officer Sullivan, I need to speak with you as soon as possible. This is concerning your pursuit of employment with the Lubbock Police Department. Call me back… thanks.”

I had to take a deep breath and think thorough the possibilities. I must say, his tone was not at all comforting or reassuring. But I decided that as a Police officer, he probably has a “phone voice” that is meant to be un-revealing as to why he is calling. So I clenched my jaw, prepared for the worst, and dialed him up.

“Mr. Carroll, I would like to officially extend an invitation to you for the Police Academy here in Lubbock… everything looks to be in order, and you are good to go…”

Well duh… I didn’t quite know how to respond except to say, “Great,  count me in!”

He laughed and said, “Ok, Ill see you on the seventh bright and early.”

Have you ever seen anyone screaming YA_HOOOOO at the top of thier lungs in thier car on the loop and wondered what they were so happy about?

Congratulations, i am happy for you.
I think you will make a wonderful Police Officer, I am trying to use the PC term,
and I think you already do look like a cop, and will look great in a uniform, (and that is a compliment by the way), and if you ever stop me for speeding or something else, please give me a brake, and remember what I just said.

Justin!!!! That is awesome!! I guess this is old news by now, but I am just finding out. When you get your cop car and stuff can I go out on the beat with you? I am addicted to the First 48 on A&E where detectives investigate real life murders. I think that would be an interesting job, minus the paperwork. So there’ll be two people packin’ heat at church. I feel so safe!

Anyways, congrats! God has brought you to this point. Cool, cool, cool!
